Starting School

The staff at Alfredton School know that beginning school can be a daunting process for both the child and parent.  We aim to make the transition into school as smooth as possible.

Our new entrant teacher is a kind and caring person who works hard to provide our new entrants with the basic skills they need when they first begin school.

If your child is about to start school you are welcome to come into the school and meet the staff.  You may enjoy spending some time in the classrom as well, we do ask that you organise a time with the junior teacher for these classroom visits.  We like students to do school visits before their first day as this generally helps with the transition process.  The number and duration of school visits can be decided upon with the Junior teacher - often the time of the year and activities happening in school with have an impact on the number we can do.

We have developed a starting school booklet for new parents.  This should answer many of your questions and give the general idea of how Alfredton School works.

Please feel free to download the document below or you are welcome to request a hard copy from the school.  If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact us.
